The East Region Health Protection Service (ERHPS) plays a vital role in safeguarding public health across NHS Borders, NHS Fife, NHS Forth Valley, and NHS Lothian. Through close collaboration with a wide range of partner organisations, ERHPS monitors infectious disease trends, analyses surveillance data, and responds to emerging risks and outbreaks. Local and regional reporting
- Joint Protection Plans: Each NHS Board within the East Region develops a Joint Health Protection Plan (JHPP) in collaboration with its respective local authorities. These plans outline the systems, resources, and responsibilities required to deliver effective health protection locally. They also support the implementation of the Public Health etc. (Scotland) Act 2008, ensuring coordinated Public Health action and preparedness across the region.
